MG Motor India has launched the updated MG Hector in the Indian market with prices starting at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for select units. While the core identity of the SUV remains unchanged, the new Hector brings subtle design updates and feature additions aimed at improving everyday convenience and in-cabin technology.
Introduced in India back in 2019, the MG Hector has consistently been one of the brand’s strongest performers. With this update, MG is focusing on refining the experience rather than reinventing the SUV. Here’s a closer look at what’s new in the latest MG Hector.
New MG Hector design updates
The new MG Hector carries forward the familiar silhouette of the outgoing model, with only minor visual changes. Up front, the SUV now gets a new Aura hexagonal grille finished in chrome, paired with a redesigned front bumper featuring chrome garnishes. These tweaks add a slightly fresher look without straying too far from the original design.
On the sides, MG has introduced a new set of alloy wheels, while the rest of the profile remains largely unchanged. At the rear, the Hector now features an Aura sculpted bumper, although the overall tail design stays the same as before.
Adding to the visual refresh, MG is also offering the Hector in a new Celadine Blue exterior shade, giving buyers an additional color option.
New MG Hector interior and features
Inside the cabin, changes are subtle but focused on comfort and technology. The five-seater MG Hector now gets a dual-tone ice grey interior, while the Hector Plus variants feature a dual-tone purple-tan cabin theme. The dashboard and trims receive Hydra gloss finish accents, enhancing the premium feel.
The SUV continues to offer Infinity speakers by Harman, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, and an electrically powered tailgate. The big highlight, however, is the addition of touch gesture control. This allows users to perform certain functions using hand gestures, adding a layer of futuristic interaction.
The touchscreen infotainment system now offers faster response times, thanks to MG’s new RAM boost technology. Other notable features include:
-
360-degree camera with wheel view
-
i-SMART system with over 100 voice commands
-
Wireless phone charger
-
Digital Bluetooth key
-
Walk-away auto lock and unlock feature
These updates strengthen the Hector’s position as one of the most feature-rich SUVs in its segment.
New MG Hector powertrain details
Despite the design and feature upgrades, the MG Hector remains unchanged mechanically. The SUV continues to offer the same engine options as the outgoing model.
Buyers can choose between a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine. The petrol variant is available with both a manual gearbox and a CVT transmission. It also offers a 48V mild-hybrid option for improved efficiency. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Should you consider the new MG Hector?
With a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh, the updated MG Hector focuses on enhancing technology and convenience rather than making drastic changes. Features like gesture control, Bluetooth digital key, and faster touchscreen performance make it more appealing for tech-focused buyers.
For those looking for a spacious, comfortable SUV with a long feature list and proven engines, the new MG Hector continues to be a strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment.
